Atletico Madrid are poised to sell veteran striker Diego Forlan to Italian giants Inter Milan, dpa quoted the website of Marca as reporting on Wednesday.
Marca claimed that Inter will pay around five million euros (7.2 million euros) for the 32 year-old Uruguayan veteran, and that the deal will be officially announced on Thursday.
Inter have been looking for a new striker since selling Samuel Eto'o to Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala earlier this week. However, the website of AS claimed on Wednesday that French club Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in Forlan.
Forlan did not travel with Atletico to Portugal on Wednesday, for Thurday's Europa league qualifying round match away to Vitoria Guimaraes.
He joined Atletico in 2007 from Villarreal and scored both goals in Atletico's 2-1 defeat of Fulham in the 2010 Europa League final, the club's first trophy since 1996.
Nonetheless, his relationship with the Atletico fans worsened last season, as Atletico stumbled to a disappointing seventh-place finish.
