Baku Central Police Station Chiefs Should Make Changes in their Work – Baku Police Chief

Azerbaijan, Baku, 21 January / Trend corr. E.Huseynli / During a conference dedicated to a review of 2007, the chief of the Central Police Station of Baku commented on the lack in work at the Stations and other police departments.

"Some policemen should make changes to their work in order to strengthen the fight against crime in Baku," Major-General Rafig Abbasov, the chief of the Central Police Department of Baku, said.

Maharram Aliyev, Abbasov's predecessor was dismissed from his post in June 2007. Abbasov was appointed as chief of the Police Department by the order of the Azerbaijani Internal Ministry

According to Abbasov, the types of crimes, committed in 2007 have decreased by 144 compared to 2006. There has been a reduction in the number of murders, rape, robbery and fraud by gangs of criminals. The number of atrocities increased by 8.9% - 879 to 957. The number of registered crimes decreased from 905 to 871.
