BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 25. Türkiye welcomes the return of four villages in Azerbaijan's Gazakh district that had long been under Armenian occupation to Azerbaijan through diplomatic means, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Relations of the Turkish Parliament Fuat Oktay said, Trend reports.

He made the remark at a meeting of the chairmen of the committees on foreign relations of the parliaments of Turkic states in Baku.

He also mentioned the importance of opening the Zangezur corridor in a short time.

“The opening of the corridor will pave the way for the Turkic world to grow and prosper even further. Its opening is also crucial for Armenia. Thus, the establishment of peace in the region can be guaranteed,” he added.

To note, the eighth meeting of the State Commission on State Border Delimitation between Azerbaijan and Armenia and the Commission on State Border Delimitation and Border Security between Armenia and Azerbaijan was held on April 19, 2024.

The sides tentatively agreed on the passage of certain segments of the border line directly between the settlements of Baganis (Armenia) - Baganys Ayrim (Azerbaijan), Voskepar (Armenia) - Ashagy Askipara (Azerbaijan), Kirants (Armenia) – Kheyrimli (Azerbaijan), and Berkaber (Armenia) - Gyzylhajily (Azerbaijan) to bring them in line with the legally justified inter-republican border that existed within the Soviet Union at the time of its collapse.
