Iran monitors cut in imports from Georgia

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 25. Iran's imports of products from Georgia decreased by 16.4 percent by value and 6 percent by weight in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024) compared to the previous year (from March 21, 2022, through March 20, 2023), the statistics of Iran's Customs Administration said, Trend reports.

According to the statistics, Iran's imports of products from Georgia amounted to 48,400 tons worth about $144 million in the last year.

Statistics show that Iran's imports of products from Georgia in the previous year amounted to 51,400 tons worth about $172 million.

The information indicates that Iran's main products imported from Georgia were agricultural products, wood, various types of equipment spare parts, etc.

Meanwhile, Iran's imports of products from Georgia for the 12th month of the last Iranian year (from February 20 through March 19, 2024) amounted to 3,120 tons worth $10.2 million.

Additionally, it should be noted that according to the statistics of Iran's Customs Administration, the country's product imports to Iran in the last year amounted to 39 million tons worth approximately $66.3 billion. The import of products increased by 9.77 percent in value and 4.39 percent in weight compared to the previous year.

To note, Iran focuses on importing the necessary products needed by the country and imposes certain restrictions on importing the products manufactured in the country.
