Militants Chop off Teacher's Ears in Zabul

Afghanistan, Kabul, 15 September / Trend corr. A.Hakimi / Suspected miscreants believed to be Taliban militants cut off ears of a primary school teacher Zabul province, officials said Sunday.

Abdul Nabi Wadan, Director Education of the province in provincial capital Qalat, told the heinous act was carried out in Baho area of Bolan in Seyora district of the province last night.

Armed Taliban fighters broke into the house of Bismillah teacher at around ten pm and chopped off his ears after beating the school teacher, he added.

Militants had also beaten a dozen tribal elders who took part in opening ceremony of the school, he added. School was inaugurated at the being of the current academic year in Afghanistan.

The victim was rushed to coalition hospital in the area, he added.

Condemning the act as inhuman education official urged the locals to spare no efforts in maintaining security of their educational institutions.

There is no immediate comment from the militants on the episode thus far.
