The Regional intelligence agencies observe rush of the international terrorist groups and organizations to the  Central Asia, including Kazakhstan, Kazakh National Security Committee Chairman Nurtai Abykayev said in Astana.

There are no direct preconditions for the emergence of terrorist groups in the country, but the threat remains, Abykayev said.

"In general, there are no direct prerequisites for terrorism in Kazakhstan, but the threat is very real due to the influence of external factors, chief among  which is the country's closeness to the centers of terrorist and ethno-religious tensions," Abykayev said speaking at the OSCE Expert Conference on Successful Strategies, Effective Policies and Best Practices to Prevent Terrorism

According to him, there are some facts of involvement of Kazakh citizens in terrorist activity and the spread of radical ideology in the country.

Abykayev welcomed cooperation with the OSCE anti-terrorist intelligence unit and Kazakhstan's joining the Counter-Terrorism Network of the organization.

Abykayev proposed to consider a proposal to conduct annual OSCE conference on the prevention of terrorism.

"This will be another useful practical step by the OSCE to act together to create a reliable barrier to any terrorist threats," he said.
