Former Georgian Ambassador to the U.N. Irakli Alasania will pay a working visit to the United States this week together with his fellow party members.

He will meet with congressmen, senators and President Barack Obama's advisers in Washington, the Free Democrats party leader said in a meeting with journalists.

During the visit, a meeting will be held with the U.S. State Department.

According to Alasania, he plans to make a speech at the Social Research Center and in Columbia University. Later, Alasania will leave for Brussels.

"The main topic of the meetings will be the internal changes, which have taken place in Georgia recently, which include, the start of talks in connection with the improvement of the electoral environment, as well as security issues, Georgian-Russian relations and Georgia's geopolitical role in the region," he said.
