Turkey is concerned about the growing tensions in northern Iraq, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Selcuk Unal said on Tuesday, Anadolu agency stated.
He noted that the preservation of stability in Iraq is very important for the whole region. Unal expressed hope that Baghdad and Kurdish autonomy will soon be able to negotiate diplomatically.
There are clashes between Iraqi government forces and armed groups of Kurdish autonomy since last week. Twelve Iraqi army soldiers and one civilian were killed as a result of the clashes on November 20.
