Armenian ombudsman should act in strict accordance with the promotion of peace without any violation and based on justice, between the conflicting parties.

The announcement came in form of a principal requirement from Azerbaijan’s ombudsman Elmira Suleymanova for her Armenian counterpart Larisa Alaverdian, concerning a would-be role of the Armenian Government’s human right activist in the people’s diplomacy вЂ" one of the possible ways of resolution to the Armenian-Azerbaijani ethnic conflict over Karabakh.

IN her interview with Trend, Suleymanova said that the Armenian side
had been informed of the requirements following her meeting with Alaverdian on the sidelines of an international event in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

“First of all, the Armenian ombudsman must act towards the liberation of Azerbaijan’s territories, which are occupied by the Armenian forces, on the customary condition of return of (Azerbaijani) refugees to their homes. The second requirement is that the Armenian ombudsman must do her utmost to secure the cease-fire regime (brokered in 1994).

At third, she must promote the liberation of Azeri prisoners of war and captives, who are held by the Armenian side, and finally, she must promote the establishment and safeguarding of good-neighbor relations between Azeris and Armenians,” Suleymanova stressed.
