Georgia Agrees for David Gareji Monastry to be used for joint purposes

Georgia, Tbilisi /corr Trend N.Kirztkhalia / Giorgi Gabashvili, the Georgian Minister for Culture, Sports and Preservation of Monuments, stated in his talks with Trend that Georgia agrees to the proposal for the David Gareji Monastry complex to be used jointly as a place of worship as well as for tourism.

This matter was discussed at the commission on delimitation and demarcation with the participation of Azerbaijani and Georgian specialists currently held in Baku.

Gabashvili stated that the issue should not be politicized. "This is an historical monument and it needs to be treated as such, he stated. However, necessary facilities should be offered for conducting church services.
