Parliamentary Elections in   Turkey Took Place in Accordance with International Standards: Azerbaijani MP

Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend E.Huseynli / The extraordinary parliamentary elections in Turkey took place in a democratic and transparent manner and in accordance with international standards, said a member of the Azerbaijani delegation to PACE, MP Gultakin Hajiyeva, who attended as observant in the elections in line with PACE.

Hajiyeva said that she observed the elections in ten polling stations. "I can say with full responsibility that the extraordinary parliamentary elections in Turkey took place in accordance with European standards. Both organization of the elections and activity of the voters were at high level," Hajiyeva said.

She stressed that the parties who attended the extraordinary parliamentary elections also accepted the results. No dissatisfaction was demonstrated by political forces.

The extraordinary parliamentary elections took place in Turkey on 22 July. According to final counts, the ruling Justice and Development Party of Turkey collected 44.66% of the votes and gained 341 seats in Parliament. The Republic Popular Party followed (20.85%) which gained 111 seats in parliament. Third place was taken by the National Movement Party (14.29%) which will be represented in Parliament by 70 deputies. In addition, 28 independent parliamentarians were elected.
