Azerbaijani Justice Ministry did not report which NGOs the new Committee included.
The members of the Committee, which was formed in September 2006 in order to provide social control over prisoners and the activities of penitentiary establishments, paid 42 visits to 19 prisons within a year. Reports on the results of the visits were submitted to the Azerbaijani Justice Minister.
The head of the Justice Ministry's Department on Human Rights and Information, who is also the chairman of the election committee of the Committee Faig Gurbanov informed Trend of the re-formation.
Reports on the work carried out by the Committee within a year were delivered at the meeting and, the programs and suggestions of the NGOs and human rights activists wishing to take part in the activities of the Committee were explored.
