Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. K.Zarbaliyeva / Ali Ahmadov, the secretary of the New Azerbaijan Party is to appeal. Ikram Shirinov, Ahmadov's representative and attorney, stated that the Appeal Court of Azerbaijan, under the chairmanship of Judge Asif Allahverdiyev, had rejected the Sabail District Court's sentence.
The Sabail District Court will again consider the application for an appeal by Ali Insanov, the former Health Minister of Azerbaijan, against Ali Ahmadov in the Yasamal District Court. During the previous hearing Ahmadov's representative was requested to appeal to the Yasamal District Court as Ilham Agayev, the Judge, did not approve the appeal on the grounds that Ahmadov's workplace was based in Sabail District.
Insanov has made charges against Ahmadov for abusing his honor and dignity in an article 'Ali Insanov betrayed way of Haydar Aliyev', issued in Azerbaijan newspaper dated 7 March, 2007.
Insanov was arrested in an attempt to start a coup d'etat as well as organizing mass disorder in October 2005.
The Grave Court of Azerbaijan sentenced Insanov to 11 years imprisonment on 20 April.
