Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr I. Khalilova / The Presidium of the Azerbaijani Banks Association (ABA) approved of official appeal to join the European Bank Federation when all 47 members of the Association agreed, the Executive Director of the Association Farhad Aliyev said on 22 November.
There is no necessity to hold a general meeting of ABA as the Presidium agreed to hold an electronic inquiry.
"We will be able to officially apply to the European Federation only after the consent of Azerbaijani bank community is achieved, and that requires about two weeks," Aliyev said.
Membership in the European organization promotes establishment of cooperation with European bank associations, receiving of additional information which is necessary for globalization.
The European Federation unites over 40 members. From post-Soviet countries it is Baltic countries, Russia, Georgia and Armenia.
