Azerbaijan, Baku, March 2 / Trend , E.Ismayilov/

The Akkord company decided to replace the water reservoir that provides water to Davachi region of Azerbaijan [north region], Akkord Inshaat official Afag Guliyeva said.

The decision was made due to water leak in reservoir caused a landslide near the Baku-Russia's border highway [with concrete covering]. The highway is being reconstructed.

Reservoir's capacity is 1,500 cubic metres. Presently, the water supply to the reservoir has been stopped.

Emergency Situations Ministry specialists and experts operate on the scene. In May 2008, Akkord launched the reconstruction and construction of the concrete section of the highway to the border of Azerbaijan with Russia by order of the Azerbaijani Transport Ministry.

"The Executive Power of Davachi region has instructed the Azersu to replace the reservoir," Guliyeva said.

This section of the highway is landslide zone. There were problems in the reservoir in 2007. A landslide occurred then in aftermath of water leak. To eliminate the results of the landslide concrete piles were set up and strengthening wall was built. Yesterday's landslide damaged 100-meter section of the wall. Landslide occurred on the transition to a concrete road bridge

Guliyeva denies the rumor about the landslide has damaged the bridge near the highway. Akkord contracts the bridge.

Work on the 120 kilometre section of Baku- Russia's border highway has finished. The total thickness of the road is 28 centimeters.

The road will be put into operation in summer 2009. Twenty-two bridges will be built as a part of the reconstruction of the Baku- Russia's border.
