Bank assets increase by 20 percent in Turkey

The total assets of the Turkish banking sector totaled 1.216.8 trillion in November 2011, the Turkish Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency's report on its website says on Saturday.
Bank assets increased by 210,133 billion lira (20.9 percent) compared to late November 2010.
According to the report, profit of the banking sector in Turkey decreased by 11.7 percent and totaled 16.538 billion lira compared to the same period of 2010.
At present, there are 48 banks, three public, 10 with foreign shares in capital and six branches of foreign banks.
The official exchange rate is 1.8 lira to $1 on Dec.10.
