Some 200,000 hectares planted with wheat

Almost 200,000 hectares of the planned 860,000 hectares are planted with winter wheat in Turkmenistan, Neutral Turkmenistan said.

Almost 200,000 hectares of the planned 860,000 hectares are planted with winter wheat in Turkmenistan, Neutral Turkmenistan said.

It is expected to harvest 1.6 million tons of wheat next year. Sowing began in mid-August. It is stated in the information that agro technical activities and the process of mineral and organic fertilising were carried out everywhere.

About a 14,000 hectares grain wedge of the country are planted every day. The largest area at 225 hectares is reserved for the wheat in the Akhal region. In Mary province the grain wedge amounted to 200,000, Dashoguz - 180 000, Lebap - 175 000 and Balkan - 80,000 hectares.

About 37,000 tons of best local variety seeds, as well as those purchased in the CIS are prepared for harvesting.

Roughly 2000 Case, John Deer and Claas combines are involved in harvesting. In 2011, more than 1.3 million tons of wheat were collected.

The Turkmengallaonumleri Association of Grain Products allowed the selling of 300,000 tons of wheat from last year's harvest which exceeded domestic needs, to the foreign markets.
