Astana-Technopolis SEZ to appear in Kazakhstan

A special economic zone (SEZ) "Astana-Technopolis" will be established in Kazakhstan until 2042, according to a report published on the website legal information system of Regulatory Legal Acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Under the decree of the Government of Kazakhstan, a special economic zone "Astana-Technopolis" will be created in Astana, occupying an area of ​​584.42 hectares.

The SEZ will be created mainly for the purposes of innovative development of Astana. To this end, investments, advanced technologies, know-how will be attracted, available technologies will be used, and a modern infrastructure will be created. Also, the objectives of the FEZ are: creation of highly efficient, including high-tech and competitive industries in the manufacturing industry; accelerated development of new technologies, further improvement of organizational, economic and social conditions for research, development of new technologies and assistance in their commercialization.

Furthermore, the list of activities to be carried out by residents of the special economic zone on its territory includes 22 types. In particular, production of flour and cereal products, starch and starch-containing products; other food products; pharmaceutical preparations; glass and glass products; abrasive products and other non-metallic mineral products; other metal tanks, tanks and containers; other finished metal products.

Also within the framework of the zone, computers and peripheral equipment will be manufactured, along with irradiation equipment, electrotherapeutic equipment, electric motors, generators, power distribution and regulating transformers, electric lighting equipment, electrical wiring and electrically conductive devices, machinery and equipment not included in other categories and general purpose machines and much more.
