Kazakhstan’s Southern region to implement 20 new projects

South Kazakhstan region plans to implement 20 new projects worth 50 billion tenge in 2018, said the head of the region Zhanseit Tuimebayev at a meeting of the Presidium of the Atameken Scientific and Production Enterprise Atameken.

The implementation of the projects means new 2,700 jobs.

"In the first half of 2018, we intend to launch such projects as steel blooms producing Shymkent Temir plant worth 5.9 billion tenge, and a factory for the production of dry skimmed milk Asyl-Bastau worth 602 million tenge. These products will be import-substituting," Tuimebayev said.

In the second half of the year the region will open plans for the production of transformers, waste processing and staple fiber production, as well as a plant for the production of construction mixtures and equipment for the production of concrete.

The region also plans to finalize the modernization of Shymkent oil refinery and Shardara hydroelectric power station by the end of 2018.
