Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan mull trade, economic co-op

Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan discussed bilateral cooperation in trade and economy, as well as issues related to phytosanitary and quarantine of fruits and vegetables, customs procedures, transportation and transit of goods, Foreign Trade Ministry of Uzbekistan said in a message.

According to the information, Deputy Foreign Trade Minister of Uzbekistan Sakhib Saifnazarov held talks with Deputy Economy Minister of Kyrgyzstan Eldar Abakirov on Oct. 18, 2018.

The delegation of Kyrgyzstan visited Tashkent to participate in a meeting of the Council of the Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA) and the Central Asian Trade Forum (CATF).

The parties discussed the implementation of bilateral agreements reached at the summit and high level meetings, and noted that in recent years there has been a steady growth in mutual trade.

In January-September 2018, the trade turnover between the two countries increased by 45.1 percent compared to the same period last year and amounted to $285 million.
