Which Turkish cities offer cheapest housing for sale?

The cheapest accommodation among the major cities of Turkey can be purchased in Ankara, Turkish General Directorate of Land Registry and Cadastre told Trend.

As noted by the government agency, the price of each square meter of housing in Ankara currently makes up 2,030 Turkish liras. Meanwhile, the price of each square meter of housing in the western province of Izmir currently makes up 3,102 Turkish liras. "In Istanbul, a square meter of housing costs 4,671 liras," the government agency said.

It was noted that housing prices in new buildings in Turkey have overall increased by 1.57 percent in May 2019, compared to the same period last year.

"In May 2019, apartment prices in Turkey in the secondary segment of the real estate market generally increased by 0.49 percent, compared to the same period in 2018," the agency said.

According to the information, housing prices in new buildings in Istanbul decreased by 4.97 percent during the aforementioned period, and the prices for apartments in the secondary segment dropped by 2.09 percent.

"In May 2019, prices for new buildings in Ankara increased by 1.88 percent, while prices for apartments in the secondary segment dropped by 1.09 percent," the government agency said.
