Georgian Tbilisi holds largest share of GDP by regions

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 25

Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Georgia at current prices amounted to 49.25 billion lari in 2019, Trend reports referring to the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

The largest share of GDP by regions is held by Tbilisi (51.2 percent), followed by Adjara A.R. (10.1 percent), Imereti (8.5 percent), Kvemo Kartli (7.5 percent), and Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti (5.7 percent).

The largest share in the value-added of Tbilisi is held by Wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (21.1 percent), followed by Real estate activities (12.3 percent) and Construction (10.1 percent).

In Adjara, the primary sectors include Construction (19.9 percent), Real estate activities (13.9 percent), Accommodation and food service activities (10.3 percent), while in Imereti, the third region of Georgia in terms of value-added, Manufacturing (13.2 percent), Agriculture, forestry and fishing (12.4 percent) and Real estate activities (12 percent) represent the main spheres of economic activity.

Significant shares of value-added are held by the following sectors in Kvemo Kartli: Manufacturing (22.8 percent), Agriculture, forestry and fishing (17.6 percent) and Public administration and defense; compulsory social security (7.1 percent).
