Kazakhstan to continue decreasing import dependence in food industry

Active work will continue to improve the production self-sufficiency of the economy of Kazakhstan against the backdrop of the external challenges, Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Askar Mamin said, Trend reports citing the press office of the government.

Mamin made the statement during an expanded meeting of the government chaired by the President of Kazakhstan Kassym Jomart Tokayev.

Systematic work will be carried out to implement the Industrialization Map within the framework of the measures being taken to build up the industrial potential of the national economy. Some 112 projects will be implemented in the agro-industrial complex, metallurgy, chemical and light industries, construction industry, mechanical engineering worth 2 trillion tenge ($4.7 billion) in 2021.

The steps implementation will allow to create about 13,400 permanent jobs, as well as to ensure the growth of the manufacturing industry by 10 percent. The agro-industrial complex is actively working on the formation of seven large ecosystems for a total amount of 1.2 trillion tenge ($2.8 billion), including the production and processing of meat, fruits, vegetables, dairy products, grains, oilseeds.

The implementation of 40 investment projects worth 126 billion tenge ($300 million) will be launched in 2021, including projects for the production and processing of meat, milk, deep processing of grain and oilseeds, as well as the production of vegetables, fruits and sugar. The subsidy system will become transparent and targeted with monitoring of the provision of counter obligations.
