Turkmenistan has increased its export of different varieties of tomatoes, Trend reports with reference to the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan.
Turkmen greenhouses exported about 50,000 tons of different varieties of tomatoes during the spring season of this year, which exceeds the figure of country's tomatoes export for 2020.
The country also began exporting tomatoes to the EU countries. So, it is planned to export an additional 60 tons of fresh tomatoes to the EU countries by the end of the year.
In general, the volume of tomato exports from Turkmenistan will double by the end of the year, compared to last year.
The large-scale transformations aimed at improving the efficiency of agriculture are being carried out in Turkmenistan.
Agriculture in Turkmenistan is developing rapidly. It is one of the most important sectors of the country's economy. The main types of agricultural crops grown on the territory of Turkmenistan are wheat, cotton, rice, sugar beet, fodder, vegetable, and fruits.
