Consideration of OECD rating revision for Azerbaijan delayed for half year more

Business Materials 18 January 2006 18:29 (UTC +04:00)

The issue of the Azerbaijan rating revision by the version of the Organization of the Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) delayed for the unspecified period. The issue should have been raised at the sitting of the lending agencies of the OECD member states in Paris in mid-January, president of the Azerbaijan Fund for Facilitation of Investments and Export Emil Medjidov told Trend. However, due to technical reasons the Azerbaijan delegation failed to participate. Half of the year is to be expected, as meetings of agencies take place each half year.

Azerbaijan has the VI stage rating so far by the OECD version. The country claims to the rating increase minimum to the IV stage, may be even higher. В"There are still technical issues, whether the organization agrees to increase by 2 points at once. But we may rely on receiving the IV stage; if we take the countrys financial indices (the external debts) we can even reach the III stage by the OECD criteria , Medjdov noted.

Accessibility to the external funding for the country and the private sector depends on the OECD rating size. It is on the lowest mark so far. Azerbaijan has been carrying out work for revision of the current assessments for 3 years `.
