Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend S.Aliyev / By the end of year, Azerbaijan will provide $50mln from the gross credit in amount of $220 mln to Georgia for the construction of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, said the Transport Minister of Azerbaijan, Ziya Mammadov, on 18 July.
The cost of the construction of the railway in Georgia within the project will amount to nearly $90 mln. The constructed section of the railway will be 29 km in length.
According to the Minister, the volume of the transportation via the railway in the first two years after completion of the construction will equal nearly 10 mln tons.
"Later the volume of the transportation will increase," the Minister said. According to him, Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway has been scheduled to be put into operation in 2009.
