SOCAR Builds New Gas Pipeline

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend S.Aliyev / The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) put into exploitation, a new gas pipeline with the length of 66.6km, SOCAR reported. It was built between the Oil Rocks and Bahar fields.

Approximately, 8mln cu m of gas per day will be transported to the shore via the new 500mm pipeline. The gas is produced from the Shallow-Water Guneshli field, developed by the SOCAR.

The general contractor of the construction was the Oil and Gas Construction Trust of SOCAR and the subcontractor was the US company, McDermott. The pipeline will be build with the pipe-laying vessel Israfil Huseynov, under the SOCAR's program for the increase of gas production. In 2008 SOCAR plans to produce 8bln cu m of gas.
