Iraq ready to export 15bln cu.m of gas to Europe: PM

Iraq is ready to transport 15 billion cubic meters of gas to Europe via Turkey, Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri Al Maliki said lively to the TRT2 TV channel in Ankara at the ceremony of signing an intergovernmental agreement on the Nabucco project on July 13.

Maliki said Iraq intends to up oil production to 6 million barrels per day. However, the country can enter the world market only after adopting a law on oil, he said.

The Nabucco project worth 7.9 billion euro will deliver Azerbaijani and Central Asian gas to the EU by 2014. Construction of the pipeline is expected to begin in 2011. Its maximum capacity will be 31 billion cubic meters per year. Nabucco shareholders are the Austrian OMV, Hungarian MOL, Bulgarian Bulgargaz, Romanian Transgaz, Turkish Botas and German RWE with 16.7 percent each
