The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) is installing new drilling rigs at oilfield platforms located at the shallow-water Gunashli field operated by the SOCAR independently, the SOCAR reported on Saturday.
As reported, the SOCAR this year acquired ten NBO-160 D new drilling rigs.
One of the acquired rigs has already been installed and in operation at oilfield platform Gunashli-14. Two more rigs are currently under installation at oilfield platforms Gunashli-2 and Gunashli-11. One rig, which will be installed at oilfield platform Gunashli-3, is passed to a construction-installation unit for the reasons of assembling. The rest six drilling rigs will be installed at oilfield platforms NN 19, 5, 15, 10, 6, and 9.
Field Gunashli is of huge importance for Azerbaijani oil and gas industry. The SOCAR permanently works to increase productivity and eliminate problems related to the capital repair of oil and gas wells.
Field Gunashli is operated by SOCAR's May 28 oil and gas production unit.
The SOCAR develops the shallow-water field Gunashli at its own expense and the deepwater field Gunashli - part of the block of fields Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli - jointly with a consortium of foreign companies.
