In September 2020, compared to the previous month, the total assets of Georgian commercial banks (in current prices) increased by 3.37 billion lari ($1.04 billion) or by 6.61 percent and constituted 54.34 billion lari ($16.9 billion), Trend reports via the National Bank of Georgia.
As reported, the exchange rate effect excluded the above-mentioned indicator increased by 3.26 percent.
The banking sector's equity capital equals 5.46 billion lari ($1.7 billion), which makes up 10.04 percent of the commercial banks total assets.
The volume of loans issued by Georgian commercial banks (excluding interbank loans) in September 2020 increased by 1.89 billion lari ($588.7 million) or by 5.49 percent compared to August 2020 (exchange rate effect excluded, increased by 1.73 percent) and constituted 36.38 billion lari ($11.3 billion) by October 1, 2020.
As of October 1, 2020, the banking sector in Georgia is represented by 15 commercial banks, including 14 - foreign-controlled banks.
