The financial situation and economic development of Azerbaijan makes it more attractive to malefactor, the Symantec chief security strategist Bulent Teksoz told reporters on Tuesday.

He said that previously the main purpose of intruders were towards the developed markets such as the U.S., China, etc., now interest has shifted to developing countries.

In addition to the financial component, attracting attacks and the spread of malware in a virtual environment is in his opinion due to political processes also playing a certain role here.

"A few months ago cyber war broke out in the Middle East. Two weeks ago, the largest Arab-American Oil Company Aramco suffered an attack. Such attacks on the energy sector continue to this day.

"In Azerbaijan this sector, as well as other sectors of the economy, are also under threat. Our company provides all possible assistance in the prevention of negative factors. We can apply our experience also in the Azerbaijani market which is now important among the emerging markets. That's why Symantec investment in Azerbaijan steadily increases," Teksoz said.
