Launch of the “Virtual Number” service in Azerbaijan’s mobile communication network requires coordination with an agency responsible for ensuring security, a source in the country’s telecommunications market told Trend.
In accordance with the available agreement, the service is planned to be launched in a test mode in the Azerfon (Nar trademark) mobile operator’s network, the source noted.
“The company is interested in providing this service,” the source added. “The technical solution “Virtual Number” is rather complicated and with its launch in the test mode, it will be possible to demonstrate all its details to the agency responsible for ensuring security, and this will probably speed up the process of launching the service into commercial operation.”
One will be able to activate the “Virtual Number” in order to use it in addition to the main SIM card, by SMS and USSD commands. One will be able to temporarily use it or deactivate. A “Virtual Number” guarantees confidentiality when it becomes necessary to leave a contact phone to strangers, in an advertisement, a questionnaire, when ordering a delivery, etc.
