The value of income for postal services in Azerbaijan amounted to 58.4 million manats in 2017, according to a short statistical publication “Azerbaijan in Figures 2018” by the State Statistics Committee.
Income of Azerbaijan’s postal communication sector grew 22.1 percent last year in comparison with the indicator of 2016.
In 2017, 12 new post offices were opened in the country, the total number of which reached 1,670 by the end of 2017, and 1,282 of them operate in rural areas.
A total of 1.5 million newspapers and magazines, 200,000 telegrams, 7 million letters and 115,500 parcels were sent in Azerbaijan last year. Over the past year, 100 tons of mail were sent by air, which is twice less than in 2016.
Three million transactions on remittances and pension payments were made in the postal network of Azerbaijan in 2017, which is 15.3 percent more than in 2016.
