An attempt of smuggling about three tonnes of alcoholic beverages was prevented on the Kazakh-Russian state border, the press-service of the Border Service of the Kazakh National Security Committee said.

An attempt of smuggling about three tonnes of alcoholic beverages was prevented on the Kazakh-Russian state border, the press-service of the Border Service of the Kazakh National Security Committee said.

"Border guard of the "Janibek" border control in West Kazakhstan region have prevented four attempts of smuggling of the alcoholic beverages across the border per day," the report said.

In the first case, Kazakh citizen tried to take 200 liters of vodka to Russia.

In other three cases, Russian citizens tried to take out 825 liters, 400 liters and 1320 liters of alcoholic beverages from Kazakhstan. The total volume of alcoholic beverages was 2745 liters.

These citizens were detained in connection with the transportation of alcoholic beverages without proper supporting documents.

At present, the facts are being investigated.
