BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 2. South Korean Securo company will build a thermal power plant in Kazakhstan’s Zhambyl region, Trend reports, citing the press service of the Akimat of Zhambyl region.

The details of the project were discussed at the meeting between Nuzhhan Nurjigitov, Akim of Zhambyl region, and Kim Chung-ho, President of Securo.

According to the project plan, the company plans to construct a thermal power plant with a capacity of 270 MW, which will lead to the creation of 500 jobs. The cost of the project is estimated at 180 billion Kazakh tenge ($387.5 million).

The sides also talked over the possibility of project implementation on ferrosilicon production facility with an annual output of 60,000 tons per year. Initial estimates indicate that the project will create an additional 400 work-places in the region.

During the meeting, the sides examined the opportunities for introducing IT technologies in the construction of a "smart city" in the region’s center.
