The volume of coal mining increased by 4.4 percent and reached 4.1 million tons in Uzbekistan in 2017, Uzbekistan Railways JSC, which included all coal enterprises of the country, told Trend.

In June 2017, Uzbekistan adopted the Program for further development and modernization of the coal industry in 2017-2021, worth $690.5 million.

Six investment projects worth $690.5 million will be realized, including the modernization of Shargunkumir JSC worth $105.5 million, the construction of the Angren mine – $165 million and Nishbash mine – $175.2 million will be implemented as part of the project.

The projects will be financed by own funds of enterprises of the coal sector ($87.5 million), commercial bank loans ($155.6 million), loans issued by the Reconstruction and Development Fund of Uzbekistan ($68.7 million), and concessional loans of China for SCO member states ($378.7 million).
