For the first time, Iran will use a robot will to inspect pipes leading to compressors, critical turbines and long pipes at one of its refineries, Shana news reported.

The robot designed and built by Iranian specialists, will be sent into the Shazand refinery's pipes after flushing operations. The images sent from its camera will help identify the exact location of debris. Up till now, cleaning pipes meant several flushing operations and cutting in several places to locate blockages and objects. The robot will help save money, manpower, time and water.

Robots used around the world have the capacity to search pipes 30 metres long. Iran's domestically produced robot can be sent to inspect pipes as long as 2500 metres.
