(IRNA) - President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad here Monday said that access to nuclear technology will turn Iran into a powerful and model country in the region.

Underlining that such attempts will not leave a negative impact on the country's economy, he said that today the Iranian nation is powerful and vigilant and thanked God Almighty that the enemies cannot take any measure against Iran.

Turning to the threats of the country's enemies, including military attack and economic sanction, he said that a nation with such youth is not afraid of any world power, neither does the government fear them, reports Trend.

He stressed that the process of development of nuclear technology is underway and that only the last phase remains to be completed which will be accomplished by the end of current Iranian year (ending March 20).

"Given their failure in the face of the Iranian nation, the enemies intend to sow the seed of discord among Iranians. Resistance to access nuclear energy will improve our economy.

"The government and the Iranian team in charge of the nuclear issue has been doing its best to advance the relevant goal. The US, Britain and their allies should be aware that the Iranian nation will soon achieve its top goal," he added.

Turning to the West's belief that Iran will give up under pressure and threat, he said that once the ninth government took office, the enemies believed that it is neither supported by the rightists nor the leftists and expected it to be toppled under the slightest pressure and threat.

The chief executive pointed to the evil goals of the enemies and said that they had planned to overthrow the government and Iran's regime in the first six-month period of its tenure by attacking the country's most sensitive centers.

"My response to the opponents of our ruling system is that the nation is aware of their tricks and will not be deceived by them.

Iranians will never give up their ideals," said Ahmadinejad.
