The Iranian administration authorized $11.8 billion in foreign direct investment during a one-year period from Dec. 22, 2015 to Dec. 22, 2016, the official website of the Iranian government reported.
Over 157 proposals, including 113 new projects ($11.333 billion of investment) and asset increase for 44 ongoing projects (equal to $496 million in direct foreign investment) were approved by the administration during the period.
The unveiled statistics indicate that foreign investors are mainly interested in industry, energy (in particular renewable energy), service (especially tourism), and housing and transportation projects.
