Iranian transportation ministry has spent 780 billion tomans (about $229.4 million) for developing the country’s western rail network, said Kheirollah Khademi, a deputy transportation minister of Iran.
He said that the amount was invested in the Firouzan-Kermanshah railroad, ISNA news agency reported.
The railroad is expected to be inaugurated within the coming ten days, he added.
According to the official, the 110 kilometer long railroad will eventually link the country to Iraq’s railway system.
