Issues of intensifying cooperation between the U.S Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Georgian Interior Ministry have been discussed in Washington.

A ministry spokesperson told Trend on Thursday that Georgian Interior Minister Irakli Garibashvili who is on a working visit to the U.S. met with FBI senior officials.

Both parties discussed the issues of intensifying cooperation between the two departments and outlined concrete plans for the future. Garibashvili told the media that the meeting was very useful and productive.

"I am pleased with the state of current relations between the two departments and have agreed to intensify them to train Georgian policemen," he said.

The minister has also met with U.S. presidential advisor Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall.

He updated the advisor with the political situation in Georgia. The U.S. side was informed about the reforms being carried out at the Georgian Interior Ministry.

The Georgian Interior Minister's visit will end on February 1.
