The Agricultural University of Georgia has been awarded an authorisation status. This decision by the members of the Council for Authorisation was made last night after the meeting held at the National Centre for the Development of Quality Education.
Council representatives on the authorisation stated that most previously identified deficiencies and violations of the Agricultural University have now been corrected, so it was decided to return it the status of an authorised institution.
The decision on the suspension of the authorisation of the Agricultural University of Georgia was adopted by the Council on March 12 in connection with violations detected at the university. This decision was perceived by the head of the university's board of trustees and former Georgian Minister of Economy Kakha Bendukidze as a struggle by the new government against him personally.
The decision resulted in mass protests by students in Tbilisi.
