The association agreement doesn't mean accession at this stage, but EU leaves the doors open for Georgia to expand the relations with the union, European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy, Johannes Hahn said in Tbilisi.
He said the association agreement offers Georgia prospects to modernize itself.
Georgia will have to fulfill certain obligations and hold reforms in the sphere of human rights and the rule of law, he said, adding that this will put the country on a par with European countries.
Georgia should introduce the values corresponding with the European norms and international standards, said Hahn.
