Doctors Without Borders (MSF) said Wednesday that its medical staff was treating about 600 people injured in the powerful quake that shook Haiti, DPA reported.

The Paris-based worldwide charity organization also said on its website that the quake, which measured 7.0 on the Richter scale, damaged its medical facilities in the country and caused injuries "to patients and staff."

The organization's Trinité trauma centre hospital, a 60-bed structure and one of the only free-of-charge surgical facilities in the capital Port-au-Prince, was seriously damaged by the quake, MSF said.
