Real Madrid will have to make their Champions League debut at home to Ajax on Wednesday without Sergio Ramos, the Spanish giants said Wednesday.
The World Cup-winning right-back limped out of training on Wednesday with a pulled soleus muscle at the back of his right calf. It is still not clear for how long he will be out of action, DPA reported.
Ramos will be replaced by reserve defender Alvaro Arbeloa, who was also a member of Spain's World Cup squad.
Real's other injury victims are midfielders Kaka, Mahamadou Diarra and Fernando Gago.
Ajax, for their part, will be without suspended star striker Luis Suarez.
