Number of Train Wreck Victims Increases in   Turkey

Turkey, Ankara, 28 January / Trend corr. А.Аlaskarov / Nine passengers died as a result of a train wreck in the Turkish city of Kutahi. The newspaper Hurriyet reported that the Pamukklae-express passenger train which was going from Haydarpasha to Denizli crashed due to high speeds and technical problems caused by frozen rails.

A special salvage operation is taking place at the scene of the accident.

Turkish channels reported several injured. According to NTV, referring to local authorities, 24 people have different severe injures.

However, CNN-Turk reports about 50 injured.

Representatives of the Turkish Emergency Situations Department consider that weather conditions are the main reason for the accident.

The Turkish Authorities consider a possible terror act highly unlikely.

According to police, all the deceased and injured are Turkish citizens. There were 700 passengers on the train.

The current train crash is the fifth accident in Turkey lately. The biggest accident took place in July 2004, which caused the death of 40 people.
