Baku, Azerbaijan, Nov. 23
Trend:
The opinions on the expansion of the trilateral format of the Azerbaijan-Russia-Iran cooperation, expressed in Baku to implement the North-South international transport corridor, demonstrate the great importance and attractiveness of the project, Novruz Mammadov, deputy head of Azerbaijani presidential administration, chief of the administration's foreign relations department, wrote on his Facebook page Nov. 23.
"Indeed, there are many countries willing to join this format of cooperation," Mammadov added.
The North-South corridor is meant to connect Northern Europe to South-East Asia. It will serve as a link connecting the railways of Azerbaijan, Iran and Russia.
It is planned to transport five million tons of cargo via the North-South corridor per year at the initial stage and later to increase the figure up to more than 10 million tons.
