Rauf Denktash, the first President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, visited the Azerbaijan International University (AIU) on Wednesday, where he was conferred with the rank of the honorary professor. Besides, Elshad Abdullayev, the head of the university, presented a carpet to the guest, Trend reports.
“It is 50 years as the Great Powers have been trying to unite Cyprus and Greece, but we will struggle to the last. We’ll sacrifice ourselves in defense of motherland,” he noted.
Denktash voiced confidence in irrevocability of Azerbaijan’s struggle for liberation of Karabakh. “We must struggle for future of our countries. Now we are one nation and three countries,” he underlined.
