Iran boosts production of dual-fuel cars

Production of dual-fuel cars increased in Iran in the 8th calendar month of the current Iranian year (October 22-Nov. 22) compared to the same month of last year.

Car manufacturer Iran Khodro increased dual-fuel Peugeot 405 production from just 8 cars to 2,409 cars year on year, Iran's ISNA news agency reported on Dec. 21.

Dual-fuel Samand cars increased from 90 cars to 2,486 cars year on year.

Car manufacturer Saipa increased dual-fuel Pride cars from 253 to 3,732 in the mentioned month.

Dual-fuel cars are vehicles with multifuel engines capable of running on two fuels. On internal combustion engines one fuel is gasoline or diesel, and the other is an alternate fuel such as natural gas (CNG),LPG, or hydrogen.

About 96,648 cars were produced in Iran in the 8th calendar month of the current Iranian year.

Some 722,325 cars were produced in Iran during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21- Nov. 22), 69.8 percent more year on year.
