Kazakhstan slightly ups oil production in Jan-March

By Elena Kosolapova - Trend: Kazakhstan increased oil and gas condensate production by 0.3 percent in Jan. -March 2015 compared to the same period of 2014, Novosti- Kazakhstan news agency reported with the reference to Statistics Committee under Kazakh Economy Ministry.

The country produced 17.02 million metric tons of oil in the reporting period. Gas condensate production reached 3.32 million metric tons (4.3 percent increase).

Meanwhile, production of natural gas in the gaseous state increased by 4.9 percent to 5.7 billion cubic meters in the first quarter of 2015. Associated petroleum gas production increased by 13.8 percent to 6.1 billion cubic meters.

In the reporting period Kazakhstan decreased motor fuel (gasoline, including jet fuel) production by 5.4 percent compared to the same period of 2014.

The country produced 653,200 metric tons of motor fuel (gasoline, including jet fuel), 1,099 metric tons of diesel fuel (0.3 percent decrease), 738,200 metric tons of fuel oil (18.9 percent decrease) in Jan.-March 2014.

Three large oil refineries (Pavlodar, Atyrau and Shymkent) operate in Kazakhstan.
